Acne complex is a treatment regimen formulated by dermatologist Howard Murad, M.D. This regimen is not that much different than the acne treatment system, Proactiv Solution, developed by doctors of dermatology, Katie Rodan and Kathy Fields.

Both systems, and probably many more that are not as well known, revolve around three core steps and accompanying products, that address the factors of skin breakouts. The major difference between these two systems is that Acne Complex contains no benzoyl peroxide, that can be irritating to sensitive skin.

The first step consists of washing the affected area with a deep-cleaning cleanser. Proactiv’s cleanser is formulated with tiny exfoliating grains or beads. The Murad cleanser is silky smooth.

The next step involves using a toner, in gel or liquid form, that cleans and/or unclogs clogged skin pores.

The third step is the use of a skin perfecting or repairing lotion. This lotion hydrates or moisturizes the skin and heals blemishes.

The aforementioned steps and products comprise the core of both the Acne Complex and Proactiv Solution acne treatment systems. Of course, both manufactures also offer additional specialized sundry products such as clarifying masks, body washes, and a SPF 15 oil-free moisturizer to help protect you from the sun’s harmful rays.

Bear in mind that these two systems are preventative in nature. They heal or clear up your present skin problem, and they prevent further breakouts. As such, they recommended that you continue using their products everyday to stop acne before it starts.

Bacne – yep, acne on your back. It occurs on the back in the form of blackheads, pimples and spots and these can reach an advanced stage in the form of cysts. It’s more likely to be ignored bacause it’s generally out of sight, and for this reason it’s essential that it should be taken care of in time. Men or prone to this kind of acne as compared to women.

Acne is a always a big deal, but this type of acne can lead to back discomfort, too. You can’t possibly keep this part of the body untouched either by carrying something, or pressed against clothing. And of course, you can’t wear that backless top or dare bare your back on the beach.

Clogged pores are basically the main reason for acne breakouts. Your back has thousands of sebaceous glands that produce sebum or oil. Once these glands are clogged because of bacteria and other foreign materials, then you can expect acne breakouts on your back.

Bacne can be harder to treat than facial acne. This is due largely to the fact that keeping the back clean is harder than other parts of the body that are easily reached.

Here are some simple tips that you can follow to treat mild to moderate back acne:

1. Start with a healthy diet, as vegetables and fruits keep the body in homeostasis or in balance (detoxify your body). Taking a vitamin and mineral supplement is also proven to speed up the healing process of acne.

2. Perspiration can worsen your acne problem. And when it comes to bacne, this can be a real problem since the back area tends to sweat a lot. To prevent sweating, you can actually wear comfortable and loose clothes. Avoid clothes that cling to your skin. Clothes made from cotton are recommended as it creates better airflow. If you can, change your shirt twice a day to prevent bacteria buildup.

3. Buy a back scubber. Some of the best tools are for cleaning the back are loofahs or brushes that come on a stick. A loofah sponge should be just abrasive enough to remove dead skin cells while lathering up. The idea is to gently remove (also know as exfoliating) dirt, oils, and excess cells that may clog up pores without being so harsh that the skin is broken.

4. Shower at least twice a day–once in the morning before you dress and once at night before you go to bed. This way, you wash off the oil and dead skin that has accumulated overnight and during the day underneath your clothing. Use a cleanser that contains salicylic or glycolic acid.

5. Your back’s skin is some of the toughest on the human body, and for this reason bacne products are usually stronger and should not under any circumstances be applied to the face. Also, you typically can use several acne treatment products at once without causing irritation. Once the skin gets dry, apply alpha hydroxy lotion. Once the lotion gets dried, apply approximately 10 per cent benzoyl peroxide gel or cream to the affected areas.

This is all you really need to do to treat bacne. Of course if your case is severe, you should consult a dermatologist.

When most of us think of acne, we think of adolescence. Many people who had acne as a teen are no longer afflicted by it; however, the number of people who do battle acne during their adulthood may surprise you. While teens do make up a large percentage of the acne-suffering population, it is more prevalent in adults than one might think.

It is also becoming clear that the physical, psychological, and social effects of this condition are still frequent occurrences in adults, and can cause many problems. Also according to recent studies, acne is an increasing problem among adults, but the reasons for this are not always clear.

Whether acne strikes during adolescence and lingers into adulthood, or simply strikes after the age of 30, the physical and psychological effects can be long-lasting and cause problems. Dermatologists say that adult acne is more likely to leave permanent scars because as the skin ages and loses collagen, it’s more difficult for it to bounce back and the scars are, therefore, often unable to heal as they would in younger skin. Physical scars aren’t the only ones left by adult acne.

Psychological scarring can be much harder to trace, and sometimes more difficult to deal with because of the misconceptions that accompany them. For example, it has been believed that the psychological effects of adult acne are easier to deal with because adults are able to accept the condition better than teens. In reality, the ramifications of these scars can be severe because acne has been perceived to be a condition specific to teens. Though we know this isn’t the case, many people are often afraid to admit they have adult acne and seek treatment.

As perceptions are shifting, and more people are recognizing acne as a problem not only among teens, but also among adults, more people are going to dermatologists for treatment.

Many adults are now seeking relief with prescribed medications as well as from over-the-counter products to treat the condition. Sales of these products have increased, along with the awareness of adult acne.

Because adult acne is reported to be on the rise, doctors are now starting to consider the special causes and unique effects of this condition on older patients. As public awareness continues to increase, people may be more likely to seek treatment.

The amount of information now available about adult acne can, also, help people afflicted with this condition to better understand it, and how to combat its problems. More study is also being given to the psychological effects of adult acne. Because adults, like teens, are often affected by what those around them think and how they are perceived, many often stop attending social events. Understanding what is causing the adult acne is key to its treatment. If the physical problems are treated, the social and psychological ones can be as well.

Back acne (actually body acne, as other areas of the body are affected, not just the face) can be some of the most severe and painful acne out there. Other areas of the body, such as the chest, shoulders, arms, buttocks and legs also experience acne, but the back is more common than the other extremities. It oftentimes gets very painful because we cannot possibly keep these parts of our body untouched; either by carrying something, or pressed against clothing or by sitting. It tends to be more prevalent in men, but is evidenced in both sexes; and can show up as any of the following: congested pores, whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, pustules, or cysts.

Acne can develop anywhere on the body except for the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet. That’s because these are the only two areas which do not have sebaceous glands where acne is formed. Your body, your back especially, has thousands of sebaceous glands that produce sebum or oil. Once these glands are clogged because of bacteria and other foreign materials, then you have acne breakouts.

Nobody wants to have acne at all, let alone on the back. It can fill its sufferers with a sense of shame and embarrassment. Women may take special care to make sure their shirts aren’t cut so low as to reveal acne on the chest. Many women who like wearing backless dresses or halter tops will find it practically impossible with back acne. Men with back acne will often avoid taking off their shirts altogether. And it can be especially hard on teens when they must undress in locker rooms.

There are many myths out there as to the cause of this skin condition. But there has been no definitive explanation for this problem. There has been no evidence that eating a lot of chocolate, fried or oily food or fat rich diet causes any difference or worsens the condition of back acne. Nor is there evidence that wearing tight-fitting clothes, or carrying a backpack causes it. Bear in mind, however, that anything that repeatedly rubs against the skin, such as backpacks, rough massages, tight fitting clothing, weight lifting machines which press on the shoulder area, or anything else that rubs the back area and irritates the skin can aggravate acne in that area. Excessive oil production or dirt does not seem to affect this condition. Even excessive perspiration after exercise, whether washed off promptly or not, doesn’t seem to trigger it. Stress, which is known to worsen facial acne, doesn’t show the same effect on this type.

Acne treatment has come a long way, and there are various ways to keep your back blemish-fee. If your back acne is mild, and you only have occasional breakouts, you may be able to get sufficient clearing benefit from an over-the-counter anti-bacterial cleanser or body wash. Use it every day, but don’t scrub the skin too aggressively as that may actually cause acne to worsen.

To get moderate to severe back acne under control, you’ll probably need an oral prescription antibiotic like erythromycin or tetracycline as well as topical treatments. You will most likely have to try several treatment products or medications before finding the one that works best for you.
